Die Bilderbuchreihe Disney – Die Gold-Edition wird seit August 2019 vom Hachette-Verlag vertrieben. Die erste Ausgabe wurde für 1,50 Euro verkauft, jede andere Ausgabe kostet 3,99 Euro. Ab der dritten Ausgabe erscheint die Reihe wöchentlich. Jede Ausgabe hat 16 Seiten.
Passend zum Namen sind die Einbände der kleinen Hardcover-Bücher mit Goldlack versehen. Der Slogan der Reihe, welcher auf jedem Band zu lesen ist, lautet „Die schönsten Geschichten, liebevoll illustriert“.
Die Reihe hat mehrere Disney-Figuren als Buchrückenmotiv, zum Beispiel Schneewittchen und die sieben Zwerge, Bambi, Buzz Lightyear mit Woody, Lightning McQueen, Wall-E, Nemo, Mike und Sully.
Viele der Bücher sind Nachdrucke der Little Golden Book-Bücher, die in Deutschland teilweise schon in anderen Reihen veröffentlicht wurden. [1] Die Illustrationen, die stellenweise schon Jahrzehnte alt sind, wurden schon 1997 von Disney aufgekauft. [2]
Die Reihe hatte mit der 200-bändigen Reihe „My little library“ seit 2020 eine englischsprachige Entsprechung, die ebenfalls bei Hachette erscheint, aber nicht dieselbe Reihenfolge einhielt. Viele der auf deutsch erschienenen Bände erschienen nicht in „My little library“.
2024 wurde zum hundertsten Jubiläum der Disney-Studios die Reihe „Disney – Die Platin-Edition“ begonnen, welche viele Nachdrucke der Gold-Edition beinhaltet.
